DR NO Alt Opening CASINO ROYALE / COWBOY BEBOP Style
Описание
For years I always wanted to do a fan edit of Dr. No opening sequence. But this project remained a concept only . The passing of Sean Connery however gave me the most urgent push to fulfill it.
My original edit was obviously to make the Strangway's murder scene the pre-title sequence. But then I recalled that "the best James Bond pre-title sequence should always have Bond in it". And this is most significant if the film is introducing a "new" Bond actor. And when it comes to such introduction , Sean Connery's introduction of Bond remains the most iconic-- therefore deserves to be in the Dr. No intro.
However the result is an almost 6 minute pre title sequence that felt dragged and lack the "punch" . Its not until I started converting the scene to Black and White/Grayscale -- for copyright issue purposes-- that convinced me a Casino Royale cut-to-cut edit may actually improve its pace.
For the title credit-- I must admit the portion I dread the most and caused its delay. Because obviously how can I complete the visuals for the iconic James Bond theme using just dots and squares. Somehow I felt Binder experienced the same dilemma. Wanting to introduce something new I started listening to he James Bond jazzy theme endlessly and then the 50s like cartoon Johnny Quest intro popped on my head. t his lead me to an anime opening considered one of the best --- Cowboy Bebop.
The "Colorful Dance silhouette" portion was retained. Inspired from the title credit of BATMAN BEYOND and the 80s crime drama TV series RUNNAWAY I somehow felt that this sequence wold look better against the jazzy Bond theme.
